[However long it takes, Joshua is reduced to remotely flipping through the channels on the TV. At least Peninsula of Passions was on for a little while, but now they've moved on to the local weather report for the evening, with the nighttime family shows beginning soon. The clinic has already tried to bring him something for dinner, but he declined - he's not exactly in the mood to eat right now.

But once he catches sight of Neku, his boredom is significantly lessened. Seeing that irritation clear in the tail lashing makes his smile a bit more thin, though. Here it goes again.]

Hello, Neku.

[His left arm is in a cast and his chest is wrapped and braced, his right forearm covered in bandages just the barest tint pinkish-red in places. They have him propped up for ease of things, and his wings are delicately tucked behind him - one of them also carefully bandage-wrapped with what is clearly a splint. His face, neck, and the exposed portions of his chest and upper arms are littered with individual bandages, and the beginnings of bruises are already blooming beneath many of them despite the soft blue-white glow.]

[he stomps over, his talons clacking on the floor, looking about to let him have it.

... then lightly touches his head to Josh's, giving a shuddering breath]

[It's... not what he was expecting, but he'll take it. There's a soft laugh in response, quiet as a breath, and at least Neku is close enough that his wince is hidden in plain sight.]

I wish you two wouldn't do things like this... when I'm not awake to do anything about it.

We needed to get out and test them. It was our first opportunity. It should have been fine.

['Should have been'. He lets out a soft breath, tipping his head up, careful not to get his horns accidentally locked with Neku's again.]

I'm sorry.

[For what? For a lot of things. For worrying him. For not telling him, though he would have been trapped in stone if he'd gone with them. ... for the things that he did, that Javert drew up from the bottom of the well and forced him to experience. That, he's only sorry for the pain. Everything else, he's glad for. He wouldn't change it.]

I know... it's not like we can stay out of danger here no matter what we do. I just... I worry. That'll I'll lose you both to these damn gods.

[He gives a soft laugh]

Hearing you say that... I thought it was all I wanted. Now I... I dunno.

[Can he turn his head enough to bump his nose against Neku's cheek without tangling their horns? He's about to find out.]

[A soft snort, followed by another wince.]

[There's a thoughtful hum at that. Hopefully his eventual plan will go off without a hitch, but if he can't succeed in reaching Shibuya...

He doesn't want to think about that right now.]

I'd offer you room to lay down, but unfortunately I don't think Emily would think too kindly of it if she were to walk in.

Yeah, I doubt the staff would appreciate it. Hold on-

[He walks over to the window, pondering it's size, before opening it. He hops up onto the ledge, hunching over with his tail and most of his back hanging outside, wings pinned back against his arms and said arms dangling down towards the floor. It SHOULD be hilariously uncomfortable, but he truly looks like a classical gargoyle in the pose, so it's probably fine]

I can keep watch like this.

[Joshua watches as Neku gets into position, and... well, it looks uncomfortable, but what does he know? Maybe it's comfortable for a gargoyle, similar to the way he feels comfortable as a naga when he's tucked in somewhere dark and warm.]

Well, my own personal guard and everything. Don't I feel special.
